Henrietta Hots' Garbage Plates
Recently, I had the wonderful opportunity to try Henrietta Hots’ famous garbage plate.
I’ve been told a lot of things about Garbage Plates from locals in the area prior to my visit, so I prepared myself accordingly and set out to see what all the hype was. Here’s what I found.
The presentation of the restaurant was quite nice! Everything was well-put-together and organized.
There wasn’t much clutter, if any, and the interior gave off a very home-ey vibe to it.
All around it made the experience of visiting the restaurant a nice one.
The Booths and tables were very clean and the drinks were placed in a manner that suggested you should buy one.
As I waited for the food, I couldn’t help but wonder what was happening in the kitchen as fryers sizzled and the meal was prepped.
The anticipation was starting to kill me.
Finally though, the meal came out!
At first glance, its a bit messy -- but we’re here for Garbage Plates after all.
Thankfully, the plate didn’t live up to it’s name. It was quite satisfying -- A bit on the blander side, and only slightly reminiscent of school cafeteria food, but I’m more than willing to chalk that up to my own faults in not knowing what to order or how to customize my plate to its fullest potential.
Thank God, too, because I was already full walking into this place. I was out with friends and prior to us stopping here, we had eaten ice cream. I was specifically already full with a root-beer float, but I must say, the combination of a float and a garbage plate is wildly appetizing in any order.
Not Bad! It was pretty fulfilling all things considered! Again, I had never eaten a Garbage Plate prior to this (despite living for 4 years in Rochester) but I found this to be quite appetizing.
I the end, I wasn’t able to finish it entirely by myself and did need the help of a friend or two to really get the job done. I had eaten beforehand too, so if I didn’t, It likely would’ve been the perfect amount of food for me.
All in all, here’s a few point that I’d want to consider:
A really good time if you have a team to tackle it
Take a visit to Henrietta Hots!
It’s some good food and nice people behind it -- it reminds me of home a bit.
